The insurance market has undergone greatchanges in crisis. Many international insurance companies have suffered significant losses in 2008-2009. Author analyzes tendencies of development of the Russian and world insurance market. The largest international insurance companies, their problems and growth prospects are considered. Priorities for the insurance companies on overcoming of consequences of crisis are proved.
