Subject. Human capital as a resource of strategic importance for the Russian economy.
Objectives. To formalize and measure the level of reproduction of human capital by building a model reflecting its real contribution to the sustainable development of enterprises of the mineral resource complex.
Methods. The research is based on the integration of neoclassical, institutional and socio-ecological approaches. Methods of system analysis, normalization of indicators, regression modeling and index aggregation are used.
Results. A four-component model of the level of human capital reproduction is proposed, including demographic sustainability, investments in personnel, the degree of organizational involvement and corporate social responsibility practices. A statistically significant positive relationship (p < 0.01) has been established between the level of reproduction of human capital and labor productivity, the level of occupational injuries and the index of public confidence in the regions where companies operate. The average level of reproduction of human capital in the sample is 0.67, which reveals structural imbalances: an acute shortage of young professionals and an uneven distribution of reproduction opportunities by region.
Conclusions. The reproduction of human capital should be considered not as an auxiliary, but as a central function of the sustainable development strategy. Its inclusion in the mechanisms of non-financial reporting and personnel planning increases both operational efficiency and social legitimacy of enterprises.
