Subject. Structural imbalances in the Russian banking Systemstructural imbalances in the Russian banking system. Objectives. To analyze the structural imbalances in the Russian banking system. Methods. A set of methods of statistical, dynamic, neural network and cluster analysis of key indicators of the banking system was used to identify structural relationships, opportunities and risks. Results. The hypertrophied role of the state has been revealed, manifested in a significant amount of net requirements for government agencies, with a relative reduction in lending to non-financial organizations, which creates risks of crowding out private investment and increases the dependence of the banking system on fiscal policy. A high dependence on volatile foreign assets has been established, which is manifested in a strong correlation between net foreign assets and lending to the real sector, creating vulnerability to external shocks and currency risks. A structural gap has been found between the cash and non-cash components of the money supply, indicating the weakness of the financial system and the presence of the shadow sector. The systemic interconnectedness of financial organizations through requirements to other financial organizations has been revealed, creating a concentration of liquidity risk and a potential domino effect. Conclusions. Structural imbalances in the banking system limit the effectiveness of monetary transmission and create vulnerabilities that require targeted measures to diversify assets, reduce dependence on the external environment, and strengthen the financial system. The results of the study are addressed to regulators, financial institutions and the scientific community to develop measures to reduce systemic risks and optimize the banking system.
