Subject. The article discusses strategic priorities for the industrial sector development in the region. Objectives. The aim is to analyze and underpin strategic priorities of the region based on calculations of projected values for the industrial sector (on the Sverdlovsk Oblast case). Methods. The study draws on analytical, statistical, and predictive methods, tabular and graphical visualization tools reflecting the specifics of the dynamic series of indicators in the region. Results. We reviewed the architecture of the system of strategic planning documents for the region’s industry development, analyzed the goal-setting strategies within the framework of documents of different levels. This enabled to identify the main directions of industrial development in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, i.e. competitiveness, innovation, digitalization, sustainability, staffing. We analyzed industrial development trends using a number of key indicators (gross regional product, investments in fixed assets, the amount of loss of organizations, the average annual number of people employed in industry) that reflect the priorities of strategic development of the region, and provided their forecast values for the future. Conclusions. The study identified unfavorable trends in the development of the region's industry, manifested in a slowdown in investment rates and in an increase in the amount of losses of organizations, which in the future may negatively affect the implementation of strategic development priorities.
