Assessment of factors determining the amount of net investment in regional agriculture

Subject. The article investigates the investment activity of business structures in regional agriculture.
Objectives. The study aims to assess factors that have a decisive impact on the size of net investment in regional agriculture.
Methods. The study is based on the use of elements of statistical and economic tools for nonparametrically distributed populations. The sequence consisted of four stages: correlation analysis of the data set, using the Spearman method; grouping of regions by indicator of significant factors with median and quartile estimates; one-factor analysis of variance of localized groups, using the Kruskal–Wallis method; binary logistic regression to evaluate predictors of net investment.
Results. We found that the scale of gross production and the share of gross output used for investments is accompanied by an increase in net investment. The size of the investment also correlates with the parameters of government support provided to business entities in agriculture. These indicators can be used to approximate the values of net investments when forecasting the activities of agribusiness entities. The absence of significant relationship between the amount of net investment, the size of own funds and the level of profitability of agricultural production was an unexpected result. This indicates an increase in net investment under current conditions, mainly due to attracted sources.
Conclusions. The growth of net investment parameters should organically link two processes: growth of production volume with an increase in the share of investment in gross output, and an increase in government support funds.
