Subject. The article addresses the human resource management strategy in the ancient Chinese ideology of Confucianism. Objectives. The study aims to analyze the works of Confucian scholars of the ancient Chinese school of Mencius and Xunzi, consider the features and characteristics of various types of management thought, find out causes and factors leading to their development and change. Methods. The study draws on general scientific methods. Results. Based on the research of Confucian scholars of the ancient Chinese school of management thought, i.e. Mencius and Xunzi, the paper analyzes and describes their works. It considers features and characteristics of various types of management thought, finds out causes and factors leading to their development and change, highlights the concepts of ancient Chinese school of management. In fact, it investigates the origin and some stages of management development. Conclusions. The findings can be used as reference materials for management students. In addition, they are of particular importance for the development of strategic views on human resource management of the ancient Chinese school of management thought.
