Subject. The article deals with underpinning the possibility of using modern BI-analytics systems to create fundamentally new tools enabling to find optimal ways of demographic and socio-economic development of municipalities in Russia, considering their regional specifics. Objectives. The purpose is to devise a multi-level BI-analytics system for assessing the demographic and socio-economic development of regions and municipalities in Russia (using the case of the Republic of Karelia). Methods. I formed a database of socio-economic indicators of Russian regions and municipalities of the Republic of Karelia for 2022, which included three interrelated blocks: demographic processes, economic development, quality of life, and the environment. Information processing was implemented using the BI analytics system of Power BI and the high-level Python programming language, including the use of specialized libraries for data analysis and visualization. Results. I developed a multi-level BI-analytics system that helps evaluate the main demographic and socio-economic indicators of regions and municipalities in the Russian Federation (on the Republic of Karelia case). Conclusions. The interconnection of all social processes necessitates the introduction of new methods of managerial decision-making based on big data and modern software tools. The designed BI-analytics system can be used to evaluate and predict various indicators of demographic and socio-economic development of territories, and elaborate regional program and strategic documents.
