Importance The newly formed holding companies often face a problem of increasing the efficiency of their subsidiaries, including through enhancing financial performance. One of the key issues is to create commercially successful goods and services.
Objectives As engine manufacturers are usually multi-product companies, when creating a priority model range, it is crucial to make a full assessment that is focused not only on achieving quick economic impact, but also on providing maintenance service to engines in service. The study aims to define a balanced product line of industrial gas-turbine engines.
Methods The study rests on a systems approach. Using particular models, I make a stepwise comparison and select the best sample from alternative engines of similar power category.
Results The calculations enable to distinguish ten types of engines from thirty four types of industrial gas-turbine engines forming the product line of AO UEC, for which it is advisable to stop production in 2016–2018.
Conclusions and Relevance The paper presents a methodology that helps define a balanced product line of industrial gas-turbine engines of a multi-product holding company, specify the best models in the model range, and determine critical decision points about termination of production of engines that are not included in the priority product line.

Keywords: industrial gas-turbine engine, balanced product line, comparative evaluation, decision-making theory, production model
