Technological security of agriculture in land reclamation regions

Importance The research examines the technological security of agriculture in the Russian Federation in land reclamation regions as a crucial aspect of food security and sectoral competitiveness.
Objectives The research describes the current situation in land reclamation, identifies the most important causes of a technological lag in the sector.
Methods The research involves methods of econometric analysis and mutivariate statistical analysis, i.e. a situational, correlation, cluster analysis and modeling in SPSS.
Results We believe there shall be a systems approach to analyzing technological risks in land reclamation of the Russian Federation. We present a conceptual map of threats to technological security of land reclamation. We classify the constituent entities of the Russian Federation into four clusters by rate of growth in arable land and improved land and provide the clusters’ profiles. We determine the constituent entities which have positive, zero and negative rates of land use growth.
Conclusions If technological risks in land reclamation are assessed and specified, it will make the agricultural development secure and contribute to effective management of the sector. The findings are advisable for federal and regional authorities as part of operational and long-term management of land reclamation.
