Subject This article discusses the socio-economic relations of the regions, the center and business of the area, as well as problems and contradictions arising in the interaction, causes and consequences of poverty.
Objectives The article explores the socio-economic situation of the regions of the Republic of Mordovia, the main problems of rural development, and ways to address them.
Methods For the study, I used statistical and comparative analyses, classification, problem analysis, ranking, and the systems approach.
Results The article presents certain proposals to address the running problems of rural socio-economic development and improve it.
Relevance The theoretical proposals and conclusions drawn can be used for further development of ways of solution of rural territories’ problems.
