Importance The article focuses on the development of methodological tools for crisis management of the region based on an assessment of the socio-economic indicators status of its development. The article analyzes the largest oil-producing regions of Russia, namely the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Republic of Tatarstan, Orenburg oblast, Sakhalin oblast, and the Krasnoyarsk Krai. The analyzed period of time is from 2012 to 2016. Objectives The article aims to identify and develop methodological tools for predicting regional crises based on a system of indicators of the level of socio-economic development. Methods For the study, we used our own method of assessing the socio-economic status of the subject of the Russian Federation on the basis of a system of indicators to assess the likelihood of adverse crisis events for the region. Results The article presents a developed methodology to analyze the socio-economic indicators of the level of development of the regions of Russia. Relevance The presented methodology helps identify priority interventions for crisis management in the socio-economic development of regions.
