Subject The article discusses the problems of trade and economic relations of border regions of Siberia with neighboring Mongolia. Objectives The paper aims to analyze the status and dynamics of economic cooperation of the RF Siberian regions with border Mongolia at the present stage, and develop recommendations on their further development within the framework of the State policy. Methods For the study, I used the methods of grouping, synthesis, comparative, and systems analyses. As well, I examined the relationship of the studied phenomena and processes with the institutional component of regional development, economic mechanism, dynamics of socio-economic processes, and the improvement of the tools of economic management in the region. Results The paper presents an analysis of the status and trends in economic cooperation of Siberia with border Mongolia at the present stage. It considers the possibilities and limitations of economic and trade integration of co-border regions of Siberia with neighboring Mongolia. The paper shows prospects for the development of economic cooperation within the framework of realization of the signed agreements and contractual obligations between the two regions. Conclusions During the analyzed period, the volume of trade between the regions has declined substantially, export to Mongolia changed significantly. For effective external border trade of the regions of Siberia, administrative procedures should get simplified and some part of the foreign trade authority should get transferred to the regional authorities, i.e. the extension of functions and economic interest of regional and local authorities in the implementation of foreign trade with Mongolia should be encouraged.
