Importance The article considers the development of small and medium-sized businesses using a case study of the Republic of Dagestan.
Objectives The paper aims to analyze the state of small business in the Republic of Dagestan, and substantiate the basic impediments to its development.
Methods For the study, I used comparative, statistical, logical and system analyses.
Results I analyzed the current problems of development of small business in the Republic of Dagestan, the basic factors of stagnant state of small business. I identified priority areas and the potential scale of development of small entrepreneurship in major industries and sectors of the economy in the region, and proposed practical measures for sectoral and territorial diversification of public infrastructure to support entrepreneurship and creation of a favorable business climate in the region.
