Importance In the conditions of the Russian Federation regions' differentiation by their development, members of households are facing the problems of labor potential realization within the administrative boundaries of their stay. Therefore, in the modern market economic system, labor migration is an essential condition of their effective development and the natural process of labor market functioning, which is likely to have a significant impact on the condition of the households.
Objectives The paper aims to research the relevant problem of impact of institutional transformations of the Russian economy on interregional migration of household members in the country. The article considers the methodological issues and practice of formation and analysis of official statistical information on labor migration in the Russian Federation.
Methods On the basis of the official data of the State statistics of the Russian Federation, which are formed as part of sample surveys on employment, I evaluated the dynamics of interregional labor migration both in Russia in general, and in the Volga Federal District, in particular. To identify the trends in interregional labor migration flows, factors and conditions that generate them, I carried out the spatial comparison on the basis of absolute and relative indicators of migration using statistical methods.
Results I underline the need for further improvement of interregional migration monitoring by official registering agencies to create an adequate information base for this process regulation in order to increase the population's welfare through the involvement of labor resources of households.
Conclusions and Relevance The findings of this research may serve as a tool in identifying the essence and regional specifics of the process of households' institutionalization.
