Importance Nowadays, some of the ship-repair enterprises (located on the Kola Peninsula) receive State support, and the rest ones have to go to great lengths to survive. While one part of the enterprises is sanguine about the future due to the State orders, the other part have to rely on private-public partnerships to solve certain problems and create the conditions for development of competitive ship-repair services both at regional and the national levels.
Methods To analyze the transformation process of ship repair market of the Kola Peninsula and today's development of the ship-repair plants of the Murmansk region, I have applied a retrospective analysis and econometric methods. By means of a comparative analysis, I have considered the organization of vessel repair in the Soviet Union and the activities of the today's ship repair market of the Kola Peninsula.
Results and Conclusions My article is formulating the pressure to change the existing technologies of the fleet technical operation and ship-repair works in Russian ship-repair enterprises. It shows the study of trends of the future development of the established United Shipbuilding Corporation. I have identified the challenges to the effective infrastructure restructuring of the enterprises engaged in the ship-repair services market.
Application The considered current directions of the development of infrastructure of the enterprises of the RF Northern area, providing the marine economic activity, are typical of many Russian coastal regions. I propose the ways to solve the problems existing in the ship repair market. They shall help to determine the direction of effective conservation and development of the market of ship repair services as a subject of the regional economy, providing the socio-economic development of the region as a whole.

Keywords: marine economic activities, ship repair, system, preventive maintenance, regional development, fleet maintenance
