Analysis of the economy cycle impact on large-scale regions of the southern federal district

The article is devoted to comparative analysis of gross region product changes in five biggest regions’ economies of the Southern Federal District on the stage of expansion as well as in the fall of business activity in Russia. The research includes a period from 1996 to the first half of 2009. The author sets up a hypothesis about causes of differences in regions in the dynamic of the economic development.
