Importance Currently, the Russian economy faces growing needs in domestic oil refining. It requires to enhance the performance of the Russian oil refineries by upgrading the equipment used for secondary oil refining processes and increasing their capacities up to production capacities of primary refining equipment. It is necessary to increase types of petrochemicals and the distribution market by diversifying secondary oil refineries and increasing the number of petrochemical producers represented by small and medium-sized businesses in cooperation with large businesses dealing with the primary refining cycle.
Objectives The research outlines the scope of small and medium-sized businesses? interests in oil refining and petrochemical production and forecasts the effect of their cooperation.
Methods Using my own techniques, I determine the scope of small and medium-sized businesses? interests in oil refining and petrochemical production and forecast the effect of their cooperation.
Results Drawing upon the experience of the petrochemical plant in performance enhancement, I illustrate options for developing the cooperation of small and medium-sized businesses in oil refining and petrochemical production.
Conclusions and Relevance Cooperating in oil refining and petrochemical production, large and small (medium-sized) producers need to see benefits and advantages of such cooperation. It should increase profits of all businesses, create new employment opportunities, additional proceeds to various budgets. The findings can be useful for large businesses in oil refining and petrochemical production when they outline their production strategies. Certain findings may be used by authorities to prepare SME support programs.
