Importance Whereas information and communication technologies evolve in the contemporary society, it makes information technologies actively pierce through socio-economic relationships, considerably influencing the nature and structure of economic interests of economic agents, and the environment the relationships take place. Hence it becomes very reasonable to examine transformation of economic interests and changes in behavior of economic agents.
Objectives The research provides a deeper insight into patterns of forming and implementing economic interests and identifies specifics. I also determine how economic interests are brought into life in the information economy, so to subsequently create an effective system for coordination of economic interests in the current condition of socio-economic development.
Methods The methodological framework of the research includes a systems approach, comparative analysis of how economic interests are formed and performed at various phases of economic activities market players carry out and how ICTs influence the nature of socio-economic development.
Results I found significant changes in the way economic interests are formed and performed in the information economy. The contemporary system of economic interests tends to prioritize personal information needs of economic agents. The system of economic interests grows more complicated, absorbing new types. I formulated two groups of changes in the institutional environment where ICT capabilities are implemented.
