Importance The article examines quantitative aspects of mass socio-economic phenomena, processes and results, which jointly reflect the state, structure and dynamics of the unemployment among the region’s population, and how they influence the development of the region's economy. Objectives The research scrutinizes unemployment trends within the year and represents a structural and dynamic analysis of the unemployment in the region. I also evaluate how the unemployment affects the development of the region's economy, and overview activities undertaken to bolster the labor market and employment in the region. Methods Studying the unemployment in the region for the above objectives and purposes, I used methods of absolute, relative, average and structural values, forecasting, determinant factor analysis, structural and dynamic analysis, time series analysis and provided an illustrative presentation of data. Conclusions and Relevance The State gets interfered into addressing unemployment issues when some factors are present. However, even under the most favorable conditions, the State assumes an active controlling function so to increase the human capital by activating social responsibility of business, develop social partnership and implement social policies. When specifying techniques for curbing the unemployment and increasing the employment, it is acceptable to resort to any measures that do not lead to inflation. In unemployment studies statistical methods will amplify the information pool for managerial decision-making on the regulation of the region’s labor market.
