Russia's competitiveness in the world economy: the results of international ratings

Importance The article focuses on the national competitiveness as one of the most vital issues of the economic policy, thus ensuring the national security.
     Objectives The research examines Russia's position in international competitiveness ratings to formulate recommendations in the economic policy and identify possible prospects for improving the competitiveness.
     Methods I performed a content analysis of proceedings by national and foreign scientists on the competitiveness of countries, and competitiveness indicators and relevant reports. I applied methods of comparative, logic, economic and statistical analysis.
     Results The article presents an analysis of trends in Russia's position in global competitiveness ratings, determines the most vital issues of attracting investment and business development in Russia and provides a road map for addressing these issues.
     Conclusions I conclude that the effective economic policy should be entirely revisited so that the Russian economy could overcome the crisis and improve its competitiveness. The State policy should envisage the improvement of the regulatory framework, development of markets of commodities and services, antimonopoly policy, development of the financial sector and corruption combating.
