The article is devoted to research of a problem of need of regulation of functioning of the enterprises of a services sector of water supply. Expediency of regulation of activity of the enterprises, rendering water supply services, a position of the authors treating this sphere as a part of system of economy of public sector and as an element of the vital services for the consumer is revealed.
