The need of ensure of food security in Russia demands accelerated development of the agricultural sector, which is impossible without the technical and technological modernization and transition to a qualitatively new innovative type of development. The paper discusses the factors affecting the innovative development of agriculture, the investment potential of the agricultural sector is analyzed.
