Objectives The research combines fragmented data in public sources to reach a better understanding of investing activity trends during the economic crisis and forecast further scenarios and possible implications for investment business.
Methods Using a systems method, I analyzed how the crisis influenced investing activities in Russia and worldwide, and respective trends.
Results The article presents analytical data on the investment market under economic circumstances of the crisis, and identifies possible scenarios.
Conclusions and Relevance Russia is facing a drop in absolute and relative volume of investment in machines and equipment that may convert into future challenges. In 2014 more investment was made in extraction of mineral resources, with processing production going down. Gross investment demonstrates a gradual and protracted decrease, while it slumped during the 2008–2009 crisis. The findings can be useful for students and teachers, banking and other institutions.
