Organization of control and revision work in establishments of Correctional system (UIS) has features stipulated to a large extent by specificity of these establishments. Besides the main, penitentiary functions the system deals with investigative activities, sanitation activities among convicted persons, production activities. Production activities of establishments of UIS substantially social tasks solution oriented – restoration and fastening of professional and labor skills with the convicted persons necessary for their adaptation in the society after liberation.
     Organization of control and revision work in establishments of UIS is based on definite principles. Universally recognized principles: legality, independence, objectiveness, publicity, system are supplemented by the author with the following principles: completeness and hierarchy. The article cites author’s interpretation of contents of these principles.
